A Father's Wish for His Children

I find myself wanting to explore new things, to embark on different endeavors, yet I'm at a loss on where to begin. It's like facing a towering mountain, so immense that it looms over me, obscuring my sense of direction. But let me backtrack a bit. The other day, I had a heartfelt conversation with my eldest daughter. I shared with her the immense joy and privilege I feel in being a father—a role that continually teaches me invaluable lessons. Through parenting, I gain glimpses into the boundless love God holds for us, his children.

I reassured my daughter that regardless of the path she chooses, whether she's uncertain or unfamiliar with the way forward, or uncertain about the outcome, my only wish is for her to give her best effort. I want her to find joy in her pursuits and strive to be the best version of herself. Though it may not always be smooth sailing—we're only human, prone to errors—I emphasized to her that as her father, I am immensely proud of her and deeply grateful to have her as my daughter. Knowing that she's doing her best fills me with overwhelming happiness.

When we couple this effort with the solid foundation we're laying with Jesus, it creates something truly beautiful. In reflecting on this conversation, I realized that God simply desires for me to give my best and find solace in my relationship with Jesus. It's a comforting thought—one that brings everything full circle.
